The current Observatory is in a phase of development (anno 2017), directed by Wetlands International Mali and set up in close collaboration with the Direction National Hydraulique (DNH) in Mali. In the current phase the focus lies on the completion of background information and the development of relevant indicators per theme.
The current Observatory – version 2.0 - is launched and managed by Wetlands International Mali in the framework of the project BAMGIRE, financed by the Dutch Government through the Embassy of The Netherlands in Bamako. With the aid of the current Observatory, the participation of agencies, institutions and NGO’s in Mali and Guinea is promoted, to create a strong and up-to-date information platform on Integrated Water Resources Management. The goal is to have a independent running Observatory by 2019.
Next to the institutions in Mali and Guinea, Wetlands International Mali is collaborating with a number of organisations for information collection, data processing and technical support to construct version 2.0 of the Observatory:
- Altenburg & Wymenga bv - general support, advice and data organisation, data and information processing on ecosystems, biodiversity and water management;
- Akvo - advice and support in data and information collection and organisation of version 1.0;
- Wyldebeast & Wunderliebe – technical support version 1.0
- B2Design - technical support and design version 1.0
